“Biodiversity gives us the pleasure of discovery, the beauty of landscapes, the meeting of languages and the richness of exchanges. It makes the world a delight and fosters the possibility of a shares world arising out of our differences. The garden is a celebration of the diversity of people and nature, of living species , of their coexistence and of the necessary balance between  them.”

Het thema van het internationale tuinfestival te Chaumont-sur-Loire 2011 is “biodiversiteit”. In ruim twintig speciaal ontworpen tuinen komt als rode draad naar voren het besef dat we als mens de natuur te veel gedomineerd hebben, waardoor de biodiversiteit drastisch is afgenomen. Maar een gezonde biodiversiteit creëert geluk voor mens én natuur.

Ik heb op 7 augustus jl een bezoek gebracht aan het festival en vele foto’s gemaakt Zie deze pdf file (klik hier voor de link) voor de hele rapportage. Erg mooi om te zien, want juist die balans tussen mens en natuur, huis en tuin, groen en kleur en dood en levend is wat ik in mijn ontwerpen tot uitdrukking wil brengen. Op die manier is de tuin inderdaad een feest, een celebration!
